Water is essential to life. It replenishes our bodies, clears our minds, and refreshes our spirits. It flows through our daily routines—quenching thirst, nourishing crops, cleansing wounds, and reminding us that even the simplest elements of creation carry divine intention.
Throughout history, water has been a gathering point. In ancient times, wells were more than places to draw water—they were places of community, of rest and replenishment for both people and animals. Water, in many ways, has always brought us together.
This past Sunday at God’s Way Prison Ministry, we witnessed something truly special: the baptism of several individuals who made the courageous and beautiful decision to proclaim their faith in Jesus Christ. People from all walks of life came together in the Name of Jesus, to celebrate His Kingdom work, to honor those who serve, and to uplift those seeking a new way—a new home—founded in Christ.
Pastor John shared a powerful word about the significance of water. It is mentioned more than any other element in the Bible. God used it to deliver His people from the enemy, to cleanse, to heal, and to reveal His power and provision. From the parting of the Red Sea to the waters of baptism, God has used water to mark moments of freedom, transformation, and new life.
How beautiful is our God, who created all things and gave meaning even to what we consider small. Science can try to explain water’s properties, but it cannot grasp the spiritual depth of something that both physically and spiritually sustains us.
Following Jesus doesn’t always come with logic or reason. It comes from a thirst—a deep, soul-level yearning—that only the living water can quench. When the Holy Spirit moves, we don’t wait on permission. We respond. We are drawn, just like water—powerful and gentle, unstoppable yet peaceful.
Water swallows, water soothes. It replenishes the soil beneath our feet and renews the spirit within us. Baptism, too, is not just a symbol—it is a surrender, a washing, a public declaration that we are made new in Christ.
Praise God for all that He is doing—even when we don’t see it, even when the waters seem still, even when the storm rages longer than expected. God is in control. He who commands the wind and waves commands our hearts too.
Amen.
